About Jess Dabro & Little Cricket
I am a Graphic and Web designer (BA in Graphic Design) and a mother of two small crickets (Finn, 3 & Evie, 1).
I have been running a small craft business from home for the last few years where I produce limited editions of hand crafted items, which are sold in retails shops and online throughout Australia. My work has been featured in Frankie & Queensland homes magazines.
I am currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, with focus on Children's Art.
I have experience in running workshops and small art classes for children, inspired by both Steiner philosophies and the Reggio Emilia approach.
I am a firm believer in the importance of quality art programs for young children. Art enables children to learn through active engagement, fostering connectivity and providing real meaning to learning. In the early years of schooling, often Children’s language skills are not highly developed making visual arts a powerful educational tool. Children are more likely to understand and express abstract concepts such as emotions more readily through the use of images rather than through words.
Children develop confidence, imagination, language skills, problem solving and cognitive skills through engaging in Art.
